Graduate Admission Decisions

Students admitted to Saint Louis University must select one of the following options, regardless of classified, conditional, provisional or unclassified status (see SLU Graduate Admission Types for more information):

Confirm or Decline Admission

Students must either confirm or decline the offer of admission for the term to which they applied.

Early Start

Students must contact the Office of Graduate Admission if they wish to matriculate in a term prior to the term for which they applied. Not all programs allow early start.

Deferred Application

Students must contact the Office of Graduate Admission if they wish to matriculate in a term later than the term for which they applied. Not all programs allow deferred application.

Graduate students who are admitted to a program may request to defer their admission for up to one academic year from the term for which they were originally admitted. Deferral requests must be submitted and approved prior to the start of the original admission term. An approved deferral preserves the student's admission for the deferred term; however, scholarships, financial aid, tuition rates, assistantships, or other forms of funding are not guaranteed to carry forward unless otherwise specified by the University or academic program. Students who do not enroll in the deferred term must submit a new application for admission.

Withdrawn Application

Students not registered by the close of the registration period for the term to which they were admitted and who have not deferred their application will have their application withdrawn.
